Kitchen-Essentials-HandyPreparing and cooking food means you will need tools and equipment handy for you to grab quickly. Arranging your kitchen so the most used essentials are located in the most handy places will help make cooking easier.

Make the Most of Your Kitchen Arrangement

Kitchens are arranged differently, sized differently and contain different amounts of storage. Take a look around your own kitchen and see where the storage spaces are located. Washing and cutting foods are usually done at or near the sink. What kind of drawers are closest to the sink for holding fruit and vegetable washing and cutting tools?

Look at the area around your stove. Lots of your food cooking will be at the stove or the oven. Do you have drawers handy to the stove for holding large stirring spoons or flipping spatulas?

Adding Extras to Supplement Drawer Space

If your drawer space is limited, or not located in the most handy places, don’t despair. There are ways you can supplement that lack of drawer space.

Consider getting a knife block to sit on your counter next to the sink. Your knives are then handy to reach where you will spend the most time cutting foods.

Try a utensil holder next to the stove. This is just a big jar-style holder where you can set up your large stirring spoons, spatulas, tongs and other items you use to cook foods.

Remember to set up your kitchen in the most convenient way for your own food preparing and cooking needs. Keeping those kitchen essentials handy makes life easier whether you are a gourmet chef, or just making the basics for yourself.
