Comparing the Quality of Dutch Ovens

Dutch-Oven-ComparisonWhen choosing a Dutch Oven  expect to get what you pay for. Better quality costs more.  The good new is, you can make just about anything in a Dutch Oven and there are pretty simple recipes for some great meals.

Quality Considerations

I enjoy being able to use something for lots of different purposes so a good quality Dutch Oven will get its money worth from me. They make affordable ones that you will eventually throw away and then a good quality one that you can pass on to your kids.

Some things to consider are how hot are you want your Dutch Oven to get and how much you plan to use it. If you want to have one for occasional use, a cheaper one will be fine. Your Dutch Oven can last a long time if you take care of it. So don’t put it in the dishwasher, even if they tell you it’s safe.

The handles on the less expensive models can melt at hotter temps. It’s easy to replace the plastic with metal handles yourself for under $10. Then your oven can reach hotter temps.

Dutch Oven Options

Here is a less expensive model that I enjoy with great features from a great company. This Dutch Oven is available from Amazon. Just click below to check this out.

Here is a higher quality model that will last a lifetime. This is available from Amazon. Just click below to see this and other items.

To sum it up if you want a Dutch Oven that you can give your kids or that is not made in China you are going to pay for it. But, if budget is a factor for you, then the less expensive models are just great.

I’ve never used a dutch oven, since I never really knew what to cook in one, but you have given me ideas. I think this will go on my wish list. Maybe my daughter and son-in-law will get one for me for my birthday!
